Waffle House armed robbery suspect still at large

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC)- Savannah-Chatham Metro Police are asking for the public's help in identifying a gunman who robbed a Waffle House and a worker on Friday morning.

Police said that at about 2:30 a.m. Friday, the suspect went into the Waffle House on King George Boulevard pointed a handgun at the clerk and demanded all the cash from the register.

He ordered another worker to empty his pockets and took cash from him and ordered a customer to do the same. The suspect left and walked away from the restaurant.

Several companies to attend career fair

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC)- Savannah Technical College and the Georgia Department of Labor and Georgia Department of Labor Veteran's Service are hosting a career fair Wednesday afternoon.

More than 80 companies will be represented at the Southeast Georgia Career Fair, which takes place from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Savannah Tech Eckburg Auditorium 5717 White Bluff Rd.

Students participate in inaugural Chess Fest

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC)- More than 200 first through eighth grader students played several rounds of chess Wednesday at the Oglethorpe Mall.

This was the first Chess Fest competition, which was organized by Gould Elementary and featured students from six area public and private schools.

A mother proudly posting on Facebook that her second grade daughter Allison would be participating in the competition.

Bus drivers protest change in DOL jobless benefit rules

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC)- A protest outside the Georgia Dept. of Labor wrapped up late Wednesday morning. More than 100 school bus drivers are upset that they won't be getting unemployment benefits during the summer months.

They said they're laid off from school once the school year ends and they want their jobless benefits.

Skechers to pay $40 million to customers for Shape-Up Shoes false claims

ATLANTA (WTOC) - Skechers is going to pay up for it's shape-ups. The government says Skecher's claims that the Shape-Up fitness shoes can help shed pounds and tone muscles are sketchy at best. 
 
The footwear company will pay $40 million to settle charges by the Federal Trade Commission that Skechers made unfounded claims that its Shape-ups shoes would help people lose weight and strengthen their butt, leg and stomach muscles.
